The **“Miroslav Hirtz” Hiking Lodge** is located on a 26-meter-high stone cliff above Jablanca and is the hiking facility at the lowest altitude in the world. It was built on a dominant position above the ferry port before World War II by Dr. Miroslav Hirtz (1878–1944), a renowned naturalist and travel writer. The Croatian Mountaineering Association purchased it from his heirs, renovated it, and entrusted its management in 1962 to hikers from Samobor, and in 1980 to the MIV Mountaineering Society from Varaždin.
The lodge is open daily from May 1 to September 30, while during the rest of the year, a shelter with ten beds is available. It has 25 beds in rooms (1×2, 2×3, 3×4, and 1×5) and a dormitory with 10 beds, with the possibility of adding around ten extra beds. There are two fully equipped kitchens, a dining room, a bathroom, two sanitary units, and beautiful terraces with views of Pag Island, Rab, Učka, and Velebit.
From the lodge, visitors can enjoy wonderful walks in the protected Zavratnica Nature Reserve, the village of Stinica and its surroundings, as well as climbs to Klačnica, Velebit, and the peak of Rab Island.
